On June 22, 2021, Tranchess launched with the ultimate goal of providing the DeFi world with more asset tracking & management instruments for crypto assets. We trod carefully with an initial asset tracking model; To date, Tranchess has two underlying asset pools and the overwhelming support of our community. We see that Tranchess is indeed meeting the real needs of users and we are ready to move on to the next phase of Tranchess product offering together with our community.

For a long time, we’ve wanted to build a prototype DAO to give the community a place to brainstorm and to participate in the development of Tranchess. It should come at a right time without sacrificing the security, stability, and ongoing feature updates of the main protocol. After trying our best to optimize the limited resource allocation and rounds of discussions and testing, we are now ready to introduce the beginning steps of Tranchess DAO.

Tranchess Forum is the first step towards a fully decentralized community governance structure, and a place for us to better engage the voice of our community. The forum has four different categories: Announcements, General Discussion, Technical Support, and Proposals. Needless to say, “Proposals” would be the main section in the forum, a place for Tranchess team and Tranchess community members to raise suggestions and explain their ideas in details. Consider Tranchess Forum as the experiment of community governance while we develop and optimize a fully functioning DAO.

Each proposal would be accompanied by a Snapshot link to vote. The use of Snapshot came after much consideration with regards to ensuring protocol security as well as efficiency for users across. Snapshot voting allows users to sign a transaction and express their preference without paying gas fees. Users’ voting powers will be calculated according to their veChess weight at a certain time, i.e. when the proposal was created.

The first proposal on Tranchess Forum would be a proposal from the Tranchess team on the third fund. Future proposals can be about any feature or major updates that community members would like to see on Tranchess. We would however, suggest you to research on the possibility of implementing the proposed feature and checking the interest of the community through Tranchess social media channels such as Telegram and Discord before embarking on the launch of any proposal. Of course, releasing the topic on the governance forum to start a discussion should also work. The proposed idea should be something that benefits everyone and goes beyond the short-term benefits, which could continue to serve the community’s needs in the long run.

With many new features already in the pipeline brewing, the forum is not only a place for the team to better deliver the ideas behind each new update, but also a place where the team can get a more in-depth understanding of the needs of the community, so as to schedule and prioritize the developments better.

Functions on the forum will be opened gradually. You do not have to meet a certain threshold of veChess in your account to start a new topic. The forum is established such that every voice in the Tranchess community can be heard and all ideas could be respectfully considered.

Tranchess and its governance are still at their early stage. We are about to embark on a new journey and hope to have you with us every step of the way. There will be one day when Tranchess becomes a fully decentralized community autonomous protocol, and Tranchess Forum is the first step in enabling the community to build towards the ideal protocol they have in mind.
